The Story of 7 Doors
With an intent to create something different without really being different, Seven Doors is built as an invitation - an open invitation to try the Goan life and endure the culture and joy that it encompasses.
This 1932 Portuguese home had many stories to tell. All we had to do was to just listen to them all. Located in Pilerne Marra, Bardez, this 11,000-square-foot residence embodies the spirit of the Goan village. Landscaped with a focus on Goan biodiversity, the home features five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a reading room, a game room, a formal drawing room, and multiple patios.
The house was famously known as the "House of Seven Doors" in the neighbourhood, a name the owners chose to retain as a nod to its unique charm. Drawing inspiration from the picturesque village of Pilerna and infusing it with a touch of creativity, we designed stained glass windows that brought the vibrant essence of the neighbourhood into the home. These windows not only added a splash of colour and light but also created a connection to the local heritage, making the house a true reflection of its surroundings.
The house feels like a quiet conversation with nature. Its earthy palette of natural materials and soft textures creates a warm, welcoming embrace, where the lines between indoors and outdoors blur effortlessly. In every corner, the design invites the lush surroundings inside, letting nature become part of the story. Each bedroom carries its own tale, brought to life through distinct colors and handpicked antiques. Vintage furniture whispers of timeless elegance, while repurposed heritage elements, like old pillars, ground the space in history. Echoes of Goan-Portuguese charm are woven throughout, where tradition and modernity come together in perfect harmony.
